Halle Berry Grieves the Passing of Adan Canto, Her Former X-Men Costar, at the Age of 42: ‘Forever, Forever in My Heart’

Halle Berry pays tribute to Adan Canto, who passed away at 42 on Monday.

The 57-year-old actress expressed her grief on her social media platforms on Tuesday, sharing a heartfelt homage to her former X-Men colleague.

“I don’t have the words just yet…. but my dear sweet friend Adan just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart 🕊️ 🤍,” Berry conveyed alongside a close-up photo of Canto.

She also included the post in her Instagram story, symbolizing her sentiments with a gray heart emoji placed over his image.

Berry and Canto collaborated recently on the 2020 MMA drama, “Bruised,” marking Berry’s directorial debut. Canto portrayed Desi, the manager, and boyfriend of Berry’s character. Their partnership also extended to “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014, with Berry as the mutant Storm and Canto as Sunspot.

Canto, known for his role as Aaron Shore in the ABC political thriller “Designated Survivor” from 2016-2018, left a lasting impact on his colleagues. Social media saw an outpouring of grief from his co-stars, emphasizing his talent, warmth, and genuine nature.

The actor battled appendiceal cancer privately, keeping it away from the public eye, leading to his untimely demise. Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment expressed their sorrow, highlighting Canto’s artistry, range, and vulnerability, mourning the loss alongside his wife Stephanie, children, and loved ones.

Canto’s diverse career included roles in “Narcos,” “The Cleaning Lady,” and “The Following.” Although set to return for its third season on March 5, “The Cleaning Lady” will proceed without Canto, who did not participate in filming.

Beyond acting, Canto showcased his talents behind the camera, directing and producing short films like “Before Tomorrow” in 2014 and “The Shot” in 2020.

Adan Canto is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two young children, Roman Alder, 3½, and Eve Josephine, 1½.
