Police administered a dose of Narcan in an effort to resuscitate Mr. Irsay after discovering him in a state of unresponsiveness within his Carmel, Indiana residence, as detailed in a Carmel police incident report.

Mr. Irsay, the proprietor of the Indianapolis Colts, received Narcan from law enforcement to aid in his revival subsequent to being found at his domicile exhibiting irregular breathing and a pallid, bluish complexion, as noted by authorities.

Upon police arrival at Mr. Irsay’s estate in Carmel, Indiana, around 4:30 a.m. on December 8, it was reported in a released Carmel police incident report on Wednesday that the 64-year-old had collapsed and was unresponsive within his bathroom. Subsequently, staff members relocated him to his bed, where law enforcement discovered him laboring to breathe.

The incident report conveyed, “Irsay was unconscious with abnormal breathing (agonal breathing), a weak pulse, and he was cold to the touch. Officers attempted to wake him with a sternum rub, but he was unresponsive.” It further stated, “Mr. Irsay’s pupils were constricted (pinpoint), and his skin had a bluish tint.”

An officer administered a dose of Narcan, described as an opioid overdose antidote, to which “he responded slightly,” as indicated in the report.

Subsequent to this intervention, officers managed to affix an automated external defibrillator (AED), and paramedics subsequently arrived to take control of life-saving measures, according to the incident report.

“At this time, it is unknown what Mr. Irsay had ingested prior to our arrival,” the report stated.

The connection between last month’s incident and a “severe respiratory illness” mentioned by the Colts this month, for which Mr. Irsay is undergoing treatment, remains unclear.

In response to an inquiry, the Colts issued a statement on Wednesday: “Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness. We will have no further comment on his personal health, and we continue to ask that Jim and his family’s privacy be respected.”

In November, Mr. Irsay candidly discussed his struggles with addiction on an episode of HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” as reported by The Indianapolis Star. He disclosed a battle with alcoholism and opioid addiction, stemming from nearly two dozen operations related to his powerlifting career, which led him to enter rehabilitation facilities 15 times.
