“Wizards of Waverly Place” enthusiasts, rejoice! The enchanting sibling pair, Alex and Justin Russo, are set to grace TV screens once again in the pilot of the show’s new sequel, “Wizards.”

Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who originally portrayed Alex and Justin when the series debuted in 2007, will take on executive producer roles for the pilot, as confirmed by Disney Branded Television to CBS News.

Gomez is slated to make a guest appearance in the pilot, while Henrie will regularly reprise his role as Justin. Joining the cast are new faces in Waverly Place, including Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, and Mimi Gianopulos.

The magical sequel unfolds the narrative of Justin, who abandons his position at WizTech and leaves his magical abilities behind to lead an ordinary life with his family. However, the storyline takes a turn when a potent young wizard seeks him out for training. As per the press release, “Justin must embrace his past to ensure the future of the Wizard World.”

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, the minds behind the “That’s So Raven” reboot, pen the script for the pilot episode.

On her Instagram story, Gomez shared a nostalgic photo with Henrie from the “Wizards of Waverly Place” set, captioning it with “We’re back.” Expressing her excitement, she posted a screenshot of Deadline’s report and an image of what appears to be the “Wizards” pilot script with the caption, “Home again.”

Disney Channel and Henrie also teased the news on Instagram, featuring the pilot script’s front cover next to a wand.

Henrie, in his caption, wrote, “The Russos are excited to become a part of your family, but we’ve grown. 2024, the year magic comes back.”
