The 2024 Coachella festival, as unveiled by Goldenvoice promoters on Tuesday, will feature Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator, and No Doubt as headliners.

The lineup, showcased in the poster below, encompasses a diverse array of artists, including Peso Pluma, Blur, J Balvin, Ice Spice, Sublime, Lil Uzi Vert, Grimes, Victoria Monet, Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Justice, Deftones, Lil Yachty, Bizarrap, Khruangbin, and others. Set at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., the 23rd edition of the festival is scheduled for April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Early access to passes for those who bought tickets for the 2023/2022 festival starts with the loyalty presale on Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. PT, while the general presale kicks off on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. PT. YouTube resumes its role as the exclusive livestream partner for both Coachella weekends on the festival’s official YouTube channel.

The festival poster introduces a recurring fourth headlining slot, characterized by artist headliner billing through font-size hierarchy but without a specific date. The first three headliners take precedence for each of the festival’s three days.

The meaning of this slot remains enigmatic; initially perceived as a late-night dance slot or an insurance headliner, its purpose became unclear when Frank Ocean withdrew from the second weekend last year. Blink-182 replaced him, and this year, with No Doubt in that position, the significance becomes even more puzzling.

Sources reveal that Dua Lipa and Shakira, both anticipating new albums in 2024, were also contenders for headlining. Lipa withdrew due to timing issues, while Shakira was reportedly overlooked by festival organizers.

Rage Against the Machine, initially slated to headline Coachella’s 2020 installment, faced multiple postponements due to the pandemic. Despite a 2022 reunion tour, plans are now off the table following a serious knee injury to singer Zach de la Rocha, as indicated by drummer Brad Wilk on Jan. 3.

Last year’s headliners included Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and Frank Ocean. The latter, initially scheduled for 2020, had a last-minute switch with Blink-182 after an elaborate ice-skating rink plan was dismantled.

The trend of last-minute headliner switches continued in 2022, replacing Kanye West with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and a tag-team set from the Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia.

Coachella, North America’s largest music festival, has already sold all of its 125,000 per-day tickets.
